The Nashville Teacher Residency (NTR) seeks a dynamic and experienced education leader to join our team as the Director of Expanded Pathways. This new role will help advance the mission of NTR through the creation of equity-centered expanded pathways, strong school and district relationships, and humanizing Resident support. Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Utilize Equity-Centered & Standards-Based Program Design and Implementation:

  • Lead the creation and launch of a job-embedded program by April 2025, aligning with organizational goals and educational standards.

  • Apply an equity lens to all aspects of program design and implementation, ensuring a focus on the humanity of candidates enrolled and the students and communities they will serve.

  • Utilize state and national EPP standards to design new pathways that lead to licensed teachers who honor the dignity of every student.

 

  1. Develop School and District Partnerships:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to secure school partnerships and placement sites where candidates have the structures and support to develop into excellent educators. 

  • Cultivate individual relationships with community groups to identify candidates for the expanded pathways.

  • Develop streamlined systems of communication to provide school and district leaders with updates on candidate progress.

  • Ensure compliance with Tennessee Department of Education requirements for Educator Preparation Program (EPP) Partnership Requirements.

 

  1. Manage and Support NTR Residents:

  • Provide management and support for 8-12 NTR candidates, guiding them through classes and coaching them to prepare and lead rigorous, equitable instruction in classrooms.

  • Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at partner schools.

  • Actively engage as an ambitious and critical team member to advance the organization’s mission of disrupting educational inequities through teacher preparation.

  • Manage other responsibilities based on individual interests and expertise.

 

  1. Design and Teach a Course Sequence

  • Make meaningful adjustments to NTR course sequences to ensure alignment to InTASC standards and effective practices of aspiring teachers for expanded pathways programs. 

 

  1. Help shape NTR by being an ambitious, critical, entrepreneurial member of our team.

  • Engage in weekly team meetings to adjust and improve our program based on data collected at partner schools and with Residents

  • Embrace the challenges of fighting inequity through teacher education by trying new curriculum and new program structures, figuring out what works, and improving it based on data and feedback. 

  • Collaboratively engage in problem-solving and feedback conversations with a focus on improving student learning through teacher education. 

 

Other responsibilities will be determined based on individual interests and expertise and NTR team needs.


 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for/with an Educator Preparation Program

  • 5+ years of education experience

  • Master’s degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field.

  • Proven experience and success in program design, implementation, and management.

  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining partnerships across multiple stakeholder groups

  • Strong understanding of equity and anti-oppressive practices in education.

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

 

Salary: The salary range for this position is $80,000-$95,000, with full benefits, including health, dental, and vision, 401K matching, monthly cell phone stipend, and generous paid time off.
